Intricate rhythms, ethereal melodies, and noisy textures intersect in a hypnotic continuum to shape up DVN, an imaginary soundtrack to travel though spaces, frenetic cities, and melancholic mountain refuges. DVN is the latest solo project by Lo Dev Alm, aka Daniele Pagliero, who presents a travel between spaces and electronica, industrial and dub, ambient and soundscapes.
DVN challenges genre conventions, delivering an immersive listening experience that is both meditative and dynamic. The album unfolds through a series of proto-songs that flow with cinematic pacing, all linked by a shared core of improvisations that serves as the connective thread.
Conceived as a concept album, DVN stems from the idea of divination, understood as listening to machine errors. The machines were left free to produce sound with minimal human intervention, and compositions emerge from the resulting patterns, much like a diviner observes a natural phenomenon and interprets its meaning.
DVN reminds early experiments by Scorn, and hypnotic atmospheres by Boards of Canada, passing through intense aggressions à la Nine Inch Nails and granular textures reminiscent of Autechre.
